Opa en kleindochter zingen.

Van een mijn geen onbekende kreeg ik een link toegestuurd naar een fimpje op YouTube. Dat is altijd weer een verrassing, omdat ik natuurlijk niet weet wat me te wachten staat, bij het klikken op deze link. 

Ditmaal een filmpje, opgenomen op een nazomerse middag, in de tuin van onbekende mensen. Mama achter de camera, opa en kleindochter in de spotlight. Drie akkoorden op de gitaar door kleindochter, en murmerend gezang van opa.

Tot tweemaal toe.

Mijn bekende, heer Kuiken, schreef in zijn mail aan mij dat hij er wel 'reden tot lachen' in vond. Ik vind van niet. Integendeel. Ik vind het een erg droevig filmpje.

"This short film is about a piece of footage I (George Clarke) found behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplins film 'The Circus'. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device - talking as she walks alone.

I have studied this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.

My only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it.

The text was written by Marcel Sel, a Belgian writer, author of Walen Buiten, a best-seller on the «Belgian Crisis».



The music was specifically composed by Laurent Aglat for the film, and Emma Dornan's beautiful voice gave the commentary its magical tone.



The film was directed by Jerome de Gerlache.
